گرچه در حال حاضر کاربران برای استفاده از تقریباً تمامی سرویس‌های پیام‌رسان آنلاین بایستی یک اکانت ایجاد کنند، با این حال مایکروسافت بر این عقیده است که ساخت اکانت که در بسیاری از مواقع مستلزم احراز هویت از طریق وارد کردن شماره همراه یا ایمیل است، برای استفاده از خدمات اسکایپ ضرورتی ندارد.

این قابلیت صرفا در نسخه تحت وب اسکایپ قابل دسترس بوده و امکاناتی همچون ارسال پیام متنی، برقراری تماس صوتی و تصویری و ارسال فایل تا حجم 300 مگابایت را در اختیار کاربران قرار خواهد داد.اتاق گفتگوی ایجاد شده توسط این روش حداکثر میتواند میزبان 300 نفر در حالت چَت متنی و 28 نفر در حالت برقراری تماس صوتی یا تصویری باشد؛البته مطالب ارسال شده در این اتاق‌های گفتگو هیچگاه ذخیره نشده و بعد از 24 ساعت به طور کلی حذف خواهد شد.
